DOUBLE SHADE, DOUBLE EXPERIENCE

The topographic conditions, climate and height over the sea level configure the ideal conditions to grow a high quality coffee. But more important than that is the fact that our plantation is fully integrated within the forest and this brings up lots of benefits not only for the environment but the quality of the coffee itself. Here is why: shade-grown coffee ripens more slowly, which results in the production of more sugars and substances responsible of perceiving acidity in coffee. The result is a complex flavor and more body.

Additionally, the microclimates within the plantation cools down the coffee plants in summer season and improve the soil conditions and moisture retention. Our sustainable agriculture method protects the soil from degradation and erosion due to weather conditions and also provides a habitat for many different migratory and native birds allowing a self-regulated ecosystem.

Our plantation incorporates 70 trees per hectare of 12 different species. These trees form three arboreal strata and generate a bleak 40% of the plantation. Also 60% of its fertilization is organic and produced in the farm.
